Matthew Martin

Matthew Martin is a renowned choral conductor, composer, and organist, celebrated for his significant contributions to the choral music scene. Born in 1976, Matthew has established himself as one of the UK’s leading choral composers, frequently commissioned by prestigious ensembles such as the BBC Singers and the choirs of Westminster Abbey, St Paul’s Cathedral, and Magdalen College. His compositions, published by Faber Music and Novello, span a variety of styles, with a particular focus on choral and vocal repertoire.

Matthew's academic journey includes earning an MA (Hons) in Music from Oxford University and further studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he won all major organ prizes and the DipRAM. His extensive experience includes serving as the Director of Music at Keble College, Oxford, and currently as Precentor and Director of Music at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge, where he directs the renowned college choir and teaches academic music.

Beyond his musical achievements, Matthew is also known for his appearances in popular media, notably his cameo in the ITV soap opera "Coronation Street," where he surprised fans by appearing alongside his partner, actor Rob Mallard.
