His compositions range from operas and orchestral works to chamber music, each piece reflecting his unique approach to contemporary music. Dello Joio's talent was recognized with a Pulitzer Prize for Music in 1957 for his composition "Meditation on Ecclesiastes." Beginning his musical journey at the age of 14 as a church organist and choir director, Dello Joio's early exposure to music laid the foundation for his illustrious career.
