Paul Kuentz

Paul Kuentz, born in Mulhouse, France, is a renowned conductor whose career spans over seven decades. He studied at the prestigious Paris Conservatoire under notable mentors such as Noël Gallon, Georges Hugon, and Eugene Bigot. In 1951, Kuentz founded the Paul Kuentz Chamber Orchestra, which quickly gained international acclaim for its performances of early music and works by French composers. The orchestra has performed at prestigious venues worldwide, including Saint-Séverin in Paris and Carnegie Hall in New York. Kuentz's repertoire is diverse, encompassing works from Bach to Mozart, and he has a particular affinity for premiering compositions by contemporary French composers. Beyond his orchestral work, Kuentz also founded the Chœur Paul Kuentz in 1972 and served as the director of the École nationale de musique de Brest. His dedication to music and extensive touring have made him a beloved figure in the classical music world.
