Richard Leech

Richard Leech is a celebrated American operatic tenor, renowned for his captivating performances and rich, lyric voice. Born and raised in Vestal, New York, Leech's journey in opera began at the age of 15 when he started singing small roles at the Tri-Cities Opera. His career took off after winning the prestigious Richard Tucker Award in 1988, leading to performances on some of the world's most iconic stages, including The Met, La Scala, Covent Garden, and the Hollywood Bowl. Leech is particularly admired for his interpretations of Italian and French repertory roles, showcasing his versatility and deep understanding of the art form. Beyond his performing career, Leech is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of opera talent, serving as an Associate Professor of Voice and Opera at George Mason University and leading community engagement programs.
