Born in Bristol, England, in 1956, Harris honed his musical skills at the Birmingham School of Music and Reading University, where he earned an M.Mus degree. His prowess as a pianist and harpsichordist has been showcased in numerous solo recitals and collaborative performances with guitarists, harpsichordists, recorder players, and singers.
