Robert Dick

Robert Dick is a versatile and innovative artist who has made significant contributions to the world of music. Born in Edinburgh in 1975, he began his musical journey at a young age, studying violin and piano at the Royal College of Music in London, where he graduated with Honours in 1997. Dick is celebrated for his work as a conductor, having been invited to conduct the Royal Scottish National Orchestra as early as 1993. However, his artistic prowess extends beyond conducting. As a flutist, he has explored the boundaries of free jazz and avant-garde genres, incorporating advanced techniques such as multiphonics and quarter tone fingerings in his compositions. His work "Afterlight" (1973) is a testament to his experimental approach to the flute. Dick's music is a journey through sound, blending innovation with tradition, making him a compelling figure in contemporary music.
