Serge Baudo, born in Marseilles on July 16, 1927, is a distinguished French conductor renowned for his deep connection to the French musical repertoire. The son of oboist Étienne Baudo and nephew of celebrated cellist Paul Tortelier, Serge Baudo's musical lineage is as impressive as his own career. He honed his skills at the Paris Conservatory, where he earned First Prizes in harmony, chamber music, percussion, and conducting. Baudo's conducting journey began with the Concerts Lamoureux in 1950, leading to notable positions such as conductor of the Orchestra of Radio Nice from 1959 to 1962 and permanent conductor at the Paris Opera from 1962 to 1965.

Throughout his career, Serge Baudo has been celebrated for his interpretations of French romantic and modern classical music. He has conducted and recorded with prestigious orchestras, including the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom he recorded the complete symphonies of Arthur Honegger and the orchestral works of Claude Debussy. His recordings, particularly those with the Czech Philharmonic, are praised for their crisp authority and idiomatic French approach to the music.
