Sir George Benjamin, born in 1960, is a preeminent figure in contemporary classical music, renowned for his distinctive compositions that blend an English sensibility with a fantastical touch reminiscent of Henry Purcell. Benjamin's musical journey began at the age of seven when he started playing the piano, and he soon began composing.
