Torben Ulrich

Torben Ulrich was a multifaceted Danish artist, renowned for his diverse talents as a writer, musician, filmmaker, and professional tennis player. Born in Copenhagen in 1928, Ulrich's career spanned decades, leaving an indelible mark on various creative fields. As a tennis pro, he represented Denmark in 102 Davis Cup ties and was celebrated for his philosophical approach to the sport, earning him the title of the first player of the 'inner game'. Beyond tennis, Ulrich was a pioneering figure in avant-garde music, particularly known for his free-jazz clarinet performances. His filmmaking and writing further cemented his status as a cultural icon. Ulrich's legacy extends beyond his personal achievements; he is also the father of Metallica's drummer, Lars Ulrich.
