Wojciech Kilar

Wojciech Kilar, a titan of Polish classical and film music, left an indelible mark on the world of cinema with his evocative and powerful scores. Born in Lwów in 1932, Kilar's compositions have been celebrated for their unique blend of styles, often described as intuitively postmodern, and have garnered numerous accolades. His breakthrough in international film music came with his haunting score for Francis Ford Coppola's "Bram Stoker's Dracula," which earned him an ASCAP Award and a Saturn Award nomination. Kilar's mastery continued with his score for Roman Polanski's "The Pianist," for which he won the César Award and received a BAFTA nomination. Throughout his prolific career, Kilar composed music for over 130 films, showcasing his versatility and depth as a composer. His contributions to the world of music were recognized with Poland's highest distinction, the Order of the White Eagle, in 2012.
