David Munrow was a trailblazing British musician and early music historian whose passion and energy revitalized medieval and Renaissance music for a modern audience. Born in 1942, Munrow's musical journey began at an early age, teaching himself the bassoon in just two weeks. His insatiable curiosity led him to master a wide array of wind instruments, including the recorder, shawm, crumhorn, and dulcian, as well as collecting folk instruments from Latin America. As the founder of the Early Music Consort of London, Munrow brought the enchanting sounds of ancient music to the masses through his recordings, TV shows, and radio broadcasts, making him a pioneer in the early music revival.
