About Lars Jansson

Born in Helsinki in 1926, Jansson was the son of sculptor Viktor Jansson and illustrator Signe Hammarsten-Jansson, and the brother of the celebrated author and illustrator Tove Jansson, creator of the Moomin characters. Lars Jansson collaborated with his sister on the Moomin comic strip, taking over the writing and drawing duties from 1960 to 1975, and producing beloved stories that captivated readers worldwide.

Beyond his comic work, Lars Jansson was also a prominent figure in the Swedish jazz scene. As a pianist, he formed the Lars Jansson Trio, one of Sweden's most esteemed jazz groups.
