Anton Rubinstein

Anton Rubinstein, born in 1829, was a towering figure in the world of 19th-century music, renowned as a pianist, composer, conductor, and educator. Hailing from Russia, Rubinstein was celebrated for his virtuoso piano performances, earning him the moniker 'the Michelangelo of music'. His prodigious talent extended beyond the piano, with a significant body of work as a composer, including five piano concertos, of which his Fourth Concerto is particularly notable. Rubinstein's influence was profound, as he founded the prestigious Saint Petersburg Conservatory and was the elder brother of Nikolai Rubinstein, who established the Moscow Conservatory.
