Lennart Aberg

Lennart Åberg was a Swedish jazz saxophonist and composer, celebrated for his innovative contributions to the genre and his eclectic musical explorations. Born in Helsingborg in 1942, Åberg's career spanned over five decades, during which he founded the influential jazz fusion group Rena Rama in 1972 and collaborated with legendary musicians such as George Russell, Jon Christensen, Arild Andersen, and Jan Garbarek. His work extended beyond jazz, incorporating elements from Indian, African, and Eastern European music, as well as contemporary classical styles. Åberg was also a respected educator, teaching jazz history at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He received numerous accolades, including the Djangodor and the Lars Gullin Prize, and his music continues to inspire jazz enthusiasts worldwide.
