Sheku Kanneh-Mason

Sheku Kanneh-Mason is a renowned British cellist who captured global attention with his stunning performance at the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2018. Born into a musical family, Kanneh-Mason is one of seven talented siblings, all of whom are accomplished musicians. His journey to stardom began when he won the prestigious BBC Young Musician award in 2016, making history as the first black musician to achieve this honor. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, where he studied under Hannah Roberts, Kanneh-Mason has since become the Academy's first Menuhin Visiting Professor of Performance Mentoring. His repertoire spans a wide range of classical works, and his latest album delves into the profound compositions of Shostakovich and Britten, showcasing his deep connection to 20th-century cello music. Playing a rare Matteo Goffriller cello from 1700, Kanneh-Mason's performances are a testament to his extraordinary talent and dedication to his craft.
